NOTES ON MATERIALS + COLOR
We primarily work in two domestically sourced FSC-complient woods: white oak and walnut. While are able to work with our clients directly using other species, we love what we can do with these materials. That said - we have done some pretty special stuff with some pretty special wood, so please get in touch.
We offer three possibilities harnessing the innate qualities of our wood.
* NATURAL. Standard is our natural finish, a low VOC hard-wax oil that is beautiful and durable, that allows the natural character of the wood to shine.
* BLEACHED: Our bleached finish is a labor intensive process that lightens up the wood by removing some of the color, and is protected by the same hard-wax oil for surface luster and durability.
* EBONIZED. Finally, our ebonized finish is made in-house, and is a labor-intensive natural process for darkening wood using the natural tannins of the material. This dark finish has some transparency, so you can enjoy the character of the material, while offering a striking counterpoint in any home. Like the other two colors, it is protected by the same hard-wax oil for surface luster and durability.
SHEEP HIDES + WOOL
We have recently begun working with the excellent Sheperdess Holistic Hides for our wool products we use in our upholstered products. They work to source California-born, ethically gathered materials, using ecologically sound methods.
Where noted, we use thick leather as runners on the bottom of our furniture. This offers durable protection to your floors, and a moment of visual delight and interest. Black is standard, though we can work with you to add a color pop. We also use leather as a surface treatment. We use leather sourced from top domestic suppliers, and work in a variety of textures and colors. Please get in touch with us directly regarding all leather thoughts.
We work with a naturally patina process to produce our blackened steel finish. Other finishes are available, and please get in touch with us directly regarding all leather thoughts.
